Salary structure & components
A salary structure is the template of components (earnings and deductions) that makes up an employee's CTC. Set up components once, build structures, and assign them to employees.
Component categories
Kredily groups salary components into verticals:
- Base โ the statutory backbone you can't run payroll without: Basic, HRA, employer PF, employer ESI, special allowance. You don't create these; they're built in.
- Recurring โ components that repeat every month. Kredily ships the common ones, and you can create your own (e.g. an "Incentive" allowance). For each, choose the type: allowance, deduction, reimbursement, or contribution.
- Ad-hoc โ one-off amounts for a specific month (e.g. a one-time bonus).
- Variable โ pay that varies per cycle (e.g. performance-linked variable pay).
Build and assign a structure
- Create/confirm the components you need.
- Build a salary structure combining them, with how each is computed (fixed, % of basic, etc.).
- Assign the structure to employees (individually or in bulk), or set their CTC and let the structure distribute it.
Statutory components (PF/ESI/PT) follow your PF/ESI/PT settings โ configure those once and they apply across structures.
Common issues
- Can't create a structure โ a required base component is missing/disabled; base components are mandatory.
- CTC doesn't add up โ check whether employer PF/ESI are set to be included in or excluded from CTC; that changes the totals.
- A component isn't deducting โ confirm its type (deduction vs allowance) and that it's part of the assigned structure.
When to contact support
A correctly built structure still computes wrong on a run โ raise a ticket with the employee ID, the structure, and the month.
